To control your irrigation system with Amazon Alexa, you must follow these steps:
1. Preparation
- Make sure the device has been set up according to the previous instructions in the essentials Smart Home app.
- Install the essentials Smart Home Skill in your Alexa app.
- Log in to the skill using the same credentials you use in the essentials app on your phone.
(This is necessary so that both apps can access the same database.)
2. Create scenes in the essentials Smart Home app
To use Alexa voice commands for your irrigation system, two scenes must be created:
- Scene 1 – Turn on irrigation
- Scene 2 – Turn off irrigation
Scene 1: Turn on irrigation
- Open the essentials Smart Home app.
- Go to “Scene” at the bottom and tap “+” in the top right to create a new scene.
- Select “Tap here to start operation.”
- Tap the “+” next to “Then” and select “Control single device”.
- Choose your irrigation system.
- Select “Manually off” and change this to “on”.
- Tap “Next” and then tap “Save”.
The first scene has now been created.
Scene 2: Turn off irrigation
- Open the essentials Smart Home app again.
- Go to “Scene” and tap “+” to create a new scene.
- Select “Tap here to start operation.”
- Tap the “+” next to “Then” and select “Control single device”.
- Choose your irrigation system.
- Select “Manual off” and set it to “off”.
- Tap “Next” and then tap “Save”.
The second scene is now created.
3. Use Alexa voice control
Once the scenes are created, you can control your irrigation system with voice commands.
- “Alexa, start watering” to turn on watering.
- “Alexa, turn off watering” to turn off watering.
💡 Tip: If voice control doesn't work, check whether the skill is linked correctly and whether the scenes have been set up correctly in the essentials Smart Home app.
