1. Intended Use
The essentials Smart Home Outdoor Smart Plug 16A is designed for outdoor use (IP44) and allows you to switch connected devices on and off via a smartphone app.
Control is via Wi-Fi. The device supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only.
2. Requirements

Smartphone with Android or iOS

Active internet connection

Installed Tuya app
-
Wi-Fi password at hand
3. Install the app and create an account

Open the App Store or Google Play Store.

Search for "Tuya" and install the app.
-
Open the app.
-
Create a new account or log in with an existing account.
4. Add device (standard setup)
-
Plug the smart plug into a socket.
-
Open the app and go to "My Home".
-
Tap "Add Device" at the top right.
-
Select the category "Switching & Garden".
-
Select "Outdoor Smart Plug".
-
Follow the instructions in the app to connect to your Wi-Fi.
LED status indicators
-
Green flashing (slow): Connect manually
-
Green flashing (fast): Connect automatically

Solid green: Connected, plug switched on
After successful setup, the smart plug will appear in the "My Home" overview.
5. Restoring factory settings

Press and hold the reset button for at least 25 seconds until the status LED flashes dark green.

The smart plug will then be in pairing mode and can be added again.
Important additional instructions for connection problems
Reset & reconnect (recommended for smart plugs that have been used before)
These steps are particularly important if:
-
the smart plug was already connected to another Wi-Fi network
-
the Wi-Fi network has been changed
-
the connection does not work in automatic mode
Step 1: Disconnect power

Unplug the smart plug from the socket for at least 10 seconds.
Step 2: Force reset
-
Press and hold the button on the smart plug.
-
While doing so, plug the smart plug back in.
-
Hold the button for at least 25 seconds.
-
The LED will first flash yellow/red.
Step 3: Activate manual pairing mode

When the LED flashes yellow/red, briefly press the button multiple times,
until the LED flashes green slowly. -
Slowly flashing green means: manual pairing mode (AP mode).
6. Manual pairing in the Tuya app

Open the app.
-
Tap "Add Device".
-
Select Smart Plug (Wi-Fi).
-
Enter your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi password.
-
When prompted about the flashing, select "slowly flashing".
-
Allow the connection to the smart plug's Wi-Fi network when prompted by your smartphone.
-
The smartphone may briefly switch out of the app.
-

The smart plug will then automatically connect to your home Wi-Fi.
Once completed, the smart plug will be successfully added to the app.
Important note
If the smart plug has been used before, setup via the automatic mode (fast flashing) often does not work reliably.
In this case, the smart plug must always be reconnected via the manual pairing mode (slow flashing).
