A relay is an electrically controlled A switch that switches an electrical circuit on, off, and over. Inside it is a coil wound around an iron core. When current flows through the coil, a magnetic field is created that attracts an armature located at the end of the coil. This connects two contact fields, and the so-called working contacts in the relay (normally open contacts) close.

You're familiar with relays from cars, for example. In cars, turn signals, windshield wipers, and starters are controlled by a relay.

Relay switching offers the advantage of being able to operate it remotely—ideal for smart home systems. Relays for smart homes can also be retrofitted: You can equip conventional light switches, sockets, shutters, or other electrical devices in your home with a relay actuator and then control them via your smartphone or tablet using an app.

In our online shop you can find various Relay actuators of the brands wesmartify, essentials and Shelly.
